2017 Goals

Hi folks!

This is a bit late, but this blog post details what I am achieving in 2017. Lists like these have proven invaluable to me in the past (So you should make them too!) and thus far, I'm making quite good progress. I've split this post into a "goal" section and a "book" section, so it's easier to see what I'm aiming for. I have a big backlog of books to get through, hence the focus on books! I'll no doubt be completing projects and developing software outside of these goals too (Reading books is a fair bit more boring unfortunately) to keep myself entertained, but this is what I've got in store so far:

  • Release version 1.0 of Rotten Alive (Achieved 22/01/2017)
  • Finish developing this website (Achieved 16/03/2017)
  • Finish my first real money-making project * (This will most likely be an expansion on Rotten Alive)
  • Overhead Press 60KG (Achieved 08/05/2017)
  • Bench 100KG (Achieved 20/06/2017)
  • Squat 140KG (Achievable, albeit with some much harder work. I can currently squat 100KG by 4 reps)
  • Deadlift 180KG (This will take a miracle, but I'm damn-well gonna try. Currently my one rep max is 120KG after a good workout.)
  • Get Java OCA certificate (Definitely doable)

To be honest, I'm a big fan of new years resolutions and the like. People are just happier when they're achieving things meaningful to them, or just plain achieving things. I'd highly recommend that you make a list of what you want to achieve for 2017, even if you only start these goals today. It's never too late to be awesome

Good luck!

* A "real money-making project" can be any of the following:

  • Augmented reality game with ARToolkit (I'm keeping the theme of this one a secret...)
  • Unity Horror videogame
  • Accounting Android app, with the help of my sisters boyfriend (He's a top-tier accountant yo)
  • Chemistry Android app, with the help of my lovely girlfriend (She's a chemistry student)
  • Taxi scheduling system, with the help of my girlfriends father (Sensing a pattern here? Talk to people outside of software to get new, realistic ideas)
  • Huge expansion on Rotten Alive (4 more  chapter of a storyline, one bonus in-app purchase chapter, an inventory system, the use of Android handlers to reflect the passage of time and the use of the microphone.)
